KUCCPS Opens Applications for KMTC and TVET Training Opportunities for 2024 KCSE Graduates

Nairobi, January 24, 2025:
Form Four leavers who sat for the 2024 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) can now apply for placement in Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC) and Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) institutions of their choice. This follows the opening of the application portal by the Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS). The portal will remain open for 21 days, closing on February 14, 2025.
For the first time, KUCCPS has adopted a phased application process in collaboration with KMTC and TVET colleges. This new approach ensures students enrolling for the March intake have ample time to apply. Highlighting this development, KUCCPS CEO Dr. Agnes Mercy Wahome stated,
“Universities and Teacher Training Colleges (TTCs) typically admit students later in the year, while KMTC and TVETs admit in January, March, and May. This phased process allows for a smoother transition to college for students.”
Eligibility and Application Details
Form Four leavers from 2000 to 2024 are eligible to apply for KMTC and TVET slots. Candidates planning to re-sit their KCSE this year may also apply for the September intake using their improved grades. Applications for degree programs and TTCs will be announced later.
KMTC has expanded its opportunities with 90 campuses available for placement this year, up from 87 last year. Recently opened campuses include Kerio Valley, Marimanti, and Marsabit. The institution now offers several popular programs such as:
- Diploma in Kenya Registered Community Health Nursing (49 campuses)
- Diploma in Clinical Medicine and Surgery (30 campuses)
- Certificate in Community Health Assistant (47 campuses)
- Certificate in Health Records and Information Technology (36 campuses)
Similarly, over 260 TVET institutions—including university TVET institutes, national polytechnics, and other institutions under the Ministry of Education—are now accepting applications.
Dr. Wahome urged applicants to select institutions close to their homes to reduce expenses.
Expanding Opportunities in Health and Technical Training
KMTC has introduced new programs to meet market demands. These include:
- Diploma in Health Insurance Management to equip health workers for the Universal Health Care (UHC) program.
- Diploma in Mortuary Science to address the demand for skilled morticians.
Additionally, KUCCPS is encouraging students to consider technical courses available in Community Health and TVET institutions.
Application Guidelines
Applications must be submitted through the KUCCPS portal at students.kuccps.net or the official KUCCPS website www.kuccps.ac.ke. Applicants are urged to remain vigilant against online fraud.
KUCCPS officers will roll out a national campaign to guide students and offer support through designated centers in all 47 counties, including Huduma Centres.
